Most gardeners price grass cutting per visit, with a lower rate for regular slots. A first cut on a long-neglected lawn is usually quoted separately.
| Job | Typical price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Small suburban lawn | €30–€50 | Per visit. Mow, edge and blow clippings off paths. |
| Small to medium garden | €30–€75 | Per visit, depending on size and access. |
| Regular maintenance plan | €100–€200+ | Per month. Usually fortnightly cuts plus light tidying. |
| Overgrown lawn or general tidy-up | €80–€300 | Once-off. Strim-down and cut, often with green waste removal. |
Indicative Irish price ranges, checked October 2026. They are national figures, not quotes; prices in Cork vary with access, waste removal and how overgrown the job is, so always get two or three written quotes. | When | What to plan |
|---|---|
| March–April | First cuts of the year on a high setting once the ground is firm. Book a regular slot now, as diaries fill from April. |
| May–August | Peak growth. Most lawns need cutting every 7–10 days. Raise the height a little in dry spells. |
| September–October | Cut every 2–3 weeks. Best time for scarifying, aerating and overseeding thin patches. |
| November–February | Occasional high cut on a dry day only. Keep off waterlogged or frosty lawns. |
A standard visit is mowing to an even height, strimming the edges around paths, beds and fences, and blowing clippings off hard surfaces. Many gardeners also offer scarifying, aerating, reseeding and feed-and-weed treatments.
Ask whether clippings are taken away. Some gardeners include removal in the price; others bag them for your brown bin.
Cork's mild, wet climate means grass grows for most of the year. In spring and summer most lawns need cutting every week or ten days. From September, growth slows and every two to three weeks is usually enough. In a mild winter an occasional high cut on a dry day keeps things tidy.
A good rule is never to take off more than a third of the grass height in one cut. Cutting too short stresses the lawn and lets moss in, which is a common problem in shady, damp Cork gardens.
If a lawn has been left for months, ask for a strim-down first, then a normal cut a week or two later. Expect the first visit to be priced as a tidy-up rather than a standard cut.
